Safety Inspector

Massachusetts and New York Territory, 

With minimum supervision, the Safety Inspector is responsible for promoting Health and Safety (HS) stewardship throughout the companies we may visit while inspecting and providing HS guidance and support to the workforce. Supports the development of HS programs and projects, 2-3 of experience related to safety inspection is required, along with expertise in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and on-the-job training.

Key Skills Understanding of OSHA standards, strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, communication skills, ability to stand for long periods of time, familiarity with databases, spreadsheets, compliance, and auditing software, 

Ensures that the company maintains compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local regulations. Promotes a total Health & Safety culture of ownership and accountability for the safety of all workers and protection of the environment. Responsible for ensuring that all safety legislation is adhered to and policies and practices are followed. They help implement, monitor and review the protective and preventative measures that companies are required or choose to follow, and work to minimize operational losses, occupational health problems, accidents, and injuries. Carrying out risk assessments and considering how risks could be reduced. Carrying out site inspections to ensure that policies and procedures are being properly implemented and maintained.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections of assigned areas ensuring that all operations are in compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations,  identify hazards or deficiencies and initiates corrective action through production supervision.

  • Prepare written reports on inspection results (compliant and non-compliant), certifications, accidents, injuries and illnesses investigations, employee complaints or concerns.

  • Establish a close working relationship and communication with the customer assigned safety representative and department/ship manager on a regular basis.

  • Keep certificates and records maintained in accordance to regulated standards.

  • Safety walks of the worksite grounds to ensure company compliance of environmental and safety hazards.

  • Inspects and maintains fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, and earplug dispensing stations.

  • Maintains MSDS/SDS sheets for assigned contract availabilities in progress.

  • Reports all unsatisfactory conditions to appropriate personal and DCA. Inc

Minimum Qualifications:

  • OSHA 10

    OSHA 30 (preferred) / Safety Inspector Certification

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Competent Person - Able to maintain annual Competent Person certification and other training as related to the scope of work.

Knowledgeable of:

  • Applicable Federal, State and local HS regulations.

  • Ship configuration, shipbuilding techniques, and operations.

  • Safe operational procedures of tools and machinery.

  • Able to think and solve problems, use reference materials, use organizing strategies, and use time and resources effectively.

  • Capable of interacting with others; promoting customer satisfaction; respects diversity; resolves conflicts.

  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively in English in both oral and written applications in order to successfully interact with management and employees.

Minimum Previous Experience:

Knowledge and experience with accident prevention principles, spill mitigation, and their application to industrial operations; to learn techniques of making field inspections, conducting investigations, and identifying hazards; and other relevant skills.

Minimum of 1 year of experience in Heavy Industrial and/or Construction (Preferred).

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have a current driver's license.

Working Conditions:

Inspections require, observing use of tools and operation of equipment/machinery. Must be physically able to walk to all locations. Must be able to handle stressful situations professionally. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds of weight. Visual parameters require the ability to see up close, at a distance and peripherally, with depth perception and color recognition. May be required to travel for company business.

REQUIRED PPE to be worn at all times when onsite.

  • Steel tip boots, Safety vest, safety glasses, earplugs, hard hat. Dunn Construction Analysts & Engineering will provide the following PPE. Safety vest, safety glasses, earplugs, hard hat.

COMPENSATION, as applicable

  • Mileage driven paid at Federal standard rate of $0.58 over 50 miles driven from home per day.

  • Tolls & ferry fees reimbursement.

For overnight trips, the following applies

IRS per diem rates 2019 for business travel expenses

To begin, let’s clarify the usage of per diem rates. A company chooses to use per diem for travel as an alternative to reimbursement based on detailed expense recording. Here is a breakdown of the rates:

  • Meals, as paid per day up to Federal rate of Special meal and incidental expense rates: continental is the U.S. $66

  • The locality of travel for incidental expenses only is a $5 deduction per day

  • High-cost localities (Hotels) federal per diem rate of $241 or more, depending on if the city is listed as a location where the rates apply.

  • As a representative of Dunn Construction Analysts Inc, you will be paid weekly, using a standard W-2 form.

  • This is not a full-time job. Hours may vary. Ideally suited for individuals looking either for part-time work or supplemental income

  • Some field training and review may be required.

Solar Site Inspector wanted

Massachusetts and New York Territory, 

Responsible for conducting site assessments of Commercial solar projects.

​

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop a positive relationship with customers to establish rapport and to gather facility assessment data.

  • A preliminary review of the site to be developed

  • Review of site Specifications

  • Civil site review, SWPPP compliant, erosion control measures are maintained

  • OSHA, PPE Compliant

  • Knowledgeable in site work, heavy equipment safety operations, PV array construction, SWPPP documentation & regulations, erosion control, DC / AC, transmission lines, MV terminations, transformers, Inverters, disconnects, tracking systems, battery storage

  • Underground conduit installed per specifications, compaction verification

  • Transformer Pads placement of rebar, grounding, pad drainage

  • Applications Proper placement of ballast blocks, drill & screw in place posts, post driven, roof design and if applicable mechanical tracking gear placement & battery storage.

  • Wire Management: DC Strings are properly secured per specification using the appropriate stainless steel clips, Sunbundler, UV Zip Ties

  • Mechanical inspection of racking, torque mark verification, properly grounded.

  • Review of shading concerns

  • Inspection of MV crimping terminations, Utility pole placement, gear placement

  • Review of Internal inverter connections, disconnects, secure and properly labeled

  • Check that electrical boxes are accessible and watertight

  • Interconnection verification, review of commissioning procedures

  • Appropriate Signs Installed

  • Signage PV power source, DC disconnects, Utility poles, Pad gear & perimeter fencing.

  • Final grading of site, plantings, seeding and site demobilization.

  • Upload field reports collected to Dunn Construction Analysts Inc. team within a timely manner.

  • Field reports to include, Photos and documentation of individual sites assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous documentation/admin/ field experience desired. Permitting experience is a plus.

  • Four years of college and or equivalent, fieldwork experience preferred

  • Successfully completed OSHA 30 hour training course

  • Knowledge on how to effectively use a tablet, PC, and handheld devices.

  • Format reports using correct terminology as applicable

  • Ability to review and understand construction drawings and specifications.

  • Must be able to pass a background check,

  • Valid drivers license

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills required

  • Excellent organization and documentation skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work without direct supervision.

  • Ability to learn new software.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • While performing the duties of this position, the representative is regularly required to talk or hear. Frequently is required to use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The representative will be required to stand; walk distances unassisted; sit; reach with hands and arms.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • The position requires at times extended vehicular driving, possible overnight stays in Hotels

  • Visiting construction sites under adverse weather conditions, rain, snow, cold, and heat.

  • The position offered will require you to have reliable transportation at all times, cell phone and PC / laptop.

  • Inspections will be performed Monday - Friday between 8:00 am & 3:30 pm, excluding Holidays and severe weather conditions.
